We didn't have any plans for Cartagena. None of the excursions that HAL had planned sounded exciting and when we researched things to do in Cartagena, nothing looked appealing. So I went in search of plentiful cheap wine to stock up for the long ocean crossing to come (I hate paying the exorbitant prices for alcohol in bars and restaurants)…
So I found a supermercado in Cartagena with excellent prices and a good selection of wine. I ended up buying 9 bottles of wine for 25 Euros. They ranged in price from 0.65 Euros to 5 Euros. I didn’t know what all them were, but I figured that even if I didn’t like one or two of the wines, for those prices, I could afford to find out!
On the way back to the boat, I passed a bunch of other passengers from the Noordam. Had a couple of people ask where my cabin was so they could join the party! And I gave directions to the supermarket to all who asked. I was drenched in sweat by the time I got back to the ship. It was hot out, I had 9 liters of wine I was carrying, and it was about 2 miles from the supermarket to the ship.
Jacqui had spent the morning in the spa so we met back in the room when I got back to the ship and had showered off. Then we went back out and walked around the downtown area again. By that time, everything had already closed for Siesta. I’m still not sure why we stopped in Cartagena at all…
