This was a good weekend. Had to work Saturday, but at least we got out early enough to drive around town at sunset...which is very pretty. We had a great dinner Saturday night too. This restaurant called "Espetu's Sao Luiz" is similar to a churrascaria, but instead of the servers coming around and bringing you whatever they have, you get to order what you want. Now granted, you pay per skewer of meat/cheese/bread/etc, but it's worth the R$2 for an 8inch skewer of filet mignon...and you can have it bacon-wrapped for R$0.50 more!!
Then Sunday there was a Bar-B-Q at the site manager's ranch on the Paranà River. We were having a farewell party for one of the secretaries who is leaving. Lots of tasty food with our own cook and churrasco. Lots of beer. Good conversation. Can't complain. And I got to go swimming in the Brazilian Pantanal (at least they were telling me it was part of the Pantanal). The water was bathtub warm...and hasn't been invaded by invasive species like the zebra mussel. Granted it did rain cats, dogs, and horses on us. But that just meant everyone had to huddles under the cooking hut and stand and drink together.
