I used to love that show... I don't know exactly what it was. Maybe the traveling and the thought of jetting around the world. Maybe it was just Carmen's long legs and red trench coat(women in red...what can I say!). Or maybe it was Rockapella?? Who knows. But I always like the the original game show and the computer game.
You may wonder how I got off on this tangent...I was thinking today that a lot of my traveling for work involves leaving on short notice, usually to solve a problem. Which reminded me of the way that ACME would get alerts to a crime and then be off on location. Now my problems to solve don't usually include finding out who stole the Eiffel Tower and where they took it, but it can feel like that big of a task sometimes.
Another random thought...
How did the Chinese come to celebrate Christmas as a big party? Seriously, on Christmas Eve, it felt like New Year's Eve in the U.S. People were walking around with noisemakers and party hats. The White Swan Hotel had a bunch of expensive dinner parties. Then on New Year's Eve, the streets were dead. No special dinners at the hotel. It was almost like no one really cared. Now if Christmas was brought over by Christians, you'd think that the night would be spent with relatives and have more religious overtones...because it doesn't. And if it was brought over for the sake of having a party and getting out of work, then why don't they do up New Year's Eve parties? I realize that the Chinese have their own Lunar New Year celebrations, but if you're going to take one Western holiday, like Christmas, and do something special, why not take New Year's too? The only reason we got to do ANYTHING for New Year's Eve was because the manager at the Italian restaurant invited us to a party. Otherwise, we would have had a normal dinner like every day and rung in the new year...asleep.
