After a rainy drive from Philadelphia (thanks Hurricane Gordan) we arrive in shiny Atlantic city. Atlantic city is the Las Vegas of the east coast. And Donald Trump's definitely made his mark in this place.

We arrived at night and feeling tired and ready to kick off our shoes as usual. Hotel management managed to stuff up our room. We had to wait half an hour for our room to be readied, only to find that we had been given keys to someones elses room. .... But there was a silver lining - we got a free room upgrade for the night. So not only did we get a huge deluxe room (suite)with a giant bathroom, en suite bar area, but a spectacular jacuzzi to go with it - a nice surprise for a change.

Atlantic city is, well basically, a city of gambling. Not exactly mines or Jyoti's cup of tea. There's lots of lights, stacks of old people, and lots and lots of casino's. All the big hotels have got huge gambling areas within them. We had 3 nights booked here, but it was the leg of our journey we looked forward to - a time to relax.

For the non gamblers and people that wanna get out into the sunshine and enjoy the beaches Atlantic Citys got a type of waterfront called the board-walk. A wooden boardwalk stretching along the coast line and lined souveneir shops, fast food places, and opening into all the hotels. There is a little shopping mall, all exclusive shops, and a beautiful fountain. A fantastic electronically operated water show was held hourly from this fountain, just amazing (see video clip).

After two weeks of fast food / resturant / supermarket food we were dying for some home food (as you can imagine, it's not easy living like Americans). We found this indian place on the internet (thank god for free-internet Apple shops) and decided to give it a try. Food was fantastic - buffet style home cooked (well as close as we could get) food, currys and biryani, tandoori chicken ... hmmmm, we feasted like kings. The food was cheap, decor was poor, but this did not was good, Punjab Palace you rock!!!

Gambling isn't one of my favourite past times - well I get scared just thinking about putting money down on a table. But we were in the gambling capital of the east coast so we had to give it a try. We decided to start with roulette. It took us about 2 hours before we acually put any money down. .... We eventually slept at five the next morning, lets leave the story at that. Well it was just having fun (thats what we keep telling our selves).

The next day we saw a place called Ocean City, about 30mins away, a mini atlantic city without any casino's. Believe it or not Ocean City is an alcohol free town, its prohibited till this day. Boring otherwise. We headed back thereafter, and made our best purchase of the trip so far. A painting - its really cool, will include a pic. Price not applicable. Had some supper thereafter again at good ol Punjab Palace, and hit the tables again. I can see why people get so sucked into this past time.

The next day we packed up and left for our last leg of the journey, 4 nights in New York City. Hope you's enjoy.

PS. The Video clip is a big file so it will take long to download.
