My Last Stop....
It seemed surreal at the time to finally be in LA. I could remember sitting in the hotel in Saigon and thinking LA was a world away and I would never make it.
Then all of a sudden im sitting here in LA in the hostel. I find out the bar upstairs has 1 dollar millers. Being nocturnal from Vegas I get absolutely trashed off about 8 dollars. Fantastic. The next day is the Oscars.
My hostel was just off Hollywood Blvd. 100 metres away from the Oscars. I said to myself that I would not care about the Oscars. They are just celebrities. Then the time came when they were all arriving in their cars. I could not even get close the theatre. I saw a girl sitting on a fence type thing. So I tried to climb up too. I fell and people laughed. Bruised I walked back and stood with some Japanese college students who were star gazing as I. After an hour they said to me "How long have you been waiting in the line?"  It was a moment I will never forget. Telling them that they were not in any line. Just a crowd. The looks on their faces!!.... Ahhh... You had to be there....Forget it...
I realised also after that hour that I was a stupid person. I was standing on the road that celebrities who drive themselves to the Oscars approach on. Thus, the crap people. I saw the guy from the 80's show "Chips". All the big people came in Limousines on the street I couldn't get close too. So I went back to the hostel where they served free champagne and watched the Oscars on tv. I don't know what happened. But the Oscars only went for like 5 minutes and people were buying me beers as well.
After many days of continuous drinking I was ill. It's the worst thing in the world to have a runny nose with a massive moustache. Yes gross I know. The moe asks as like a heater to your nose! I was so sick that I pretty much vegetated for the next few days. I found out the hostel I was staying at was crap because there was no place to chill out, only party.
I found out I could not get a flight home for a good week. So I was stuck in this place. With nothing to do, but think about going home. By the time I felt a little bit better I was so over seeing things I didn't see anything.
All I did was walk up the street to macdonalds and go the 1 dollar menu. America is great for Macdonalds deals. The 1 dollar menu is the greatest invention in the world. On the 1 dollar menu everything is a DOLLAR!! A Double Cheeseburger, McChicken, Sundae, Small Fries, Small Coke. So I would end up paying a few bucks and getting 3 double cheeseburgers. So good. Cheaper than going to the Supermarket!
I did actually do some things in LA. I went to SantaMonica, I was going to go to Malibu but was tired after walking for 5 minutes. (I was still ill). I tried to walk from the hostel to the Hollywood Sign. Which didn't seem that far. I thought it would make a great jump shot. I walked for an hour and found a highway then quit. I went to see a taping of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (the Scottish boss off the drew carey show). It was pretty cool, the Scottish guy from the last king of Scotland was there, so was Regis Phelmen and the singer John Couger Meloncamp (the guy that sings Born in the USA, and I was born in a small town)... It was a little crap though because they said you had to laugh at everything. And people watched you and pointed at you if you didn't (Laugh Out Loud Enough).
I didn't see any real celebrities in LA. Apart from the co star in Into the Blue at Rodeo Drive. The closet I came to meeting anyone cool was a picture of Zach Braff in the Disney store down the road.
I know I should have done more in LA. But I was sick and it was my last stop. You need a car to get around and all I could think about was home.
