My first real day in Nashville I slept in as usual and went on search for "Music Row". The stupid Lonely planet makes up Music Row to be this fantastic place where all the record companies are and its really worth seeing
. Its not. Its just the same as the Revesby Industrial area, but with Sony in small letters on the side of a building. The day wasted.
That didnt matter though, because I made use of the night. I have ripped a hole in every pair of pants but one. I spent hours patiently stitching the holes in my pants. It turns out, I now have now jeans, because they just didnt make it. That wasnt the whole night do. Me and Murray went out on the town, going round the make bar area, popping in and out of all the bars listening to the different country bands. Some were alright. But i think the good ones play on the weekends.
When walking around, we passed a crap bar that had a girl out the front. She gove us a card for each to have 1 20 oz beer for a dollar. Awesome! 20 oz i have no idea how much that is. Bit bigger than a schooner i think. We then walked down the street to a fancy smancy blues bar where people from the audience sing and stuff with a full jazz band. This one womand sand Respect so well. Was amazing. A bit further down the road. What did we see... Coyote Ugly! I sure there was one somewhere else but i dont remember. But now i wish i had gone to that one as well as this, and i wish ohh i wish i took my camera out. We went in. Imagine this big long 30 metre bar
. There was about 20 guys and a few girls. Behind the bar were 3 hot girls. One in just a bra, the other in mechanics overalls and the other - the most beautiful, called Jennifer. We could a couple of Pabbsst beers for 2 bucks each and were amazed with the goings on. It was just like the movie. They dance on the bar, sing, do body shots on each other. But the guys cant interact at all. No guys allowed on the bar! This jennifer girl even played the violin to metallica and ACDC. She would always walk past and wink at me. But they are all so flirty, trying to get better tips! We went out without tipping at first, went to a few other bars, but it wasnt the same. We headed back to Coyote Ugly. Back to Jennifer. If you had a camera she would pose for you. I could have got a picture with her. (Whenever i dont take my camera....!) Drunk another couple. I dont think we drunk that fast either because we were just in awe of the show. The Toronto Maple Leaves Ice Hockey team turned up at the bar and all tried to pick up the girls. They got nothing, but a jet blast of water. They had to play the Nashville Raptors the next day. I dont think they went to well. The best pub i have ever been to in my life i think. The only bad thing about it was that the girls had some southern habits. Like spitting every 5 seconds. Was gross! But you soon forgot. Coyote Ugly was something Murray and I will always have in common. Murray decided to stay longer - to see what the weekend at Coyote Ugly was like, i think because he was in love with Jennifer. That night was so great and we spent only 8 dollars each on alchohol, because we did dodgies.
The last day before leaving, all i did was watch cable, walk around, get some subway and leave Nashville with some lasting memories.
Arrived in the famous Nasvhille and walked the 2 miles to the hostel. It always takes me a while to realise that 2 miles is more in kilometers! There was a creepy guy that ran the place who would just walk into your room for no reason. The place was dead apart from a couple of long termers (one, a funny south korean med student called Park) and an aussie guy called Murray. Murray made my 9 and a bit months of travel seem like nothing when I heard he had been travelling for 19 months and had another year to go. But I think i would miss my dogs too much if I left for that long. I think I need some sort of grounding or after a while I would feel like i didnt have a home to go back too.
