Memphis - Elvis Town
a pretty good overnight bus I arrived in Memphis. Found a place just
down the end of lonely street at the heart break hotel. Well not
really, it was the Kings court motel next to the Greyhound. Since I got
a pretty good bus there was no need to sleep. I headed out to Sun
studios where people like Elvis and Johnny Cash recorded their first
records. Im a bit of a closet Elvis fan..
I headed to Graceland. I didnt realise Graceland was an actual
suburb of memphis, and not just the name of his mansion. Man it was so
expensive. 25 dollars US just to see his mansion. It was a an extra 10
bucks to see his cars and planes so i skipped that. His mansion was
pretty awesome though. Crazy 70's shag carpet and his gun collection
and stuff. I had to resist going crazy on souvenirs and all I bought
was an elvis driving license.
I returned to Memphis, walked around the street. A homeless
guy came up to me. You'd think I would be good at shunning the homeless
people but Im not. I end up getting into a 5 min conversation and then
feeling guilty for not giving quarters when they say "hey man you know
its cold" then i end up getting called pretdigous for not giving a
It was Superbowl Sunday. I was pumped, but it turns out I was
a little bit tired from the bus. I needed a power nap. On the way back
I saw a hooters! Superbowl and hooters. It seemed like the logical
combination. I mustn't have realised how tired I was because I slept
through the entire superbowl. I woke up and it was 11pm. Everything was
closed! Including Hooters! Till this day I have not been in a hooters!
I can't believe I missed the Superbowl. I wandered the streets
looking for open bars. There was a couple of dodgy places open but all
i ended up doing was go to a Dennys. Dennys is just a restaurant. But
America is weird. You get a coke and they just keep refilling it over
and over again
schooners of coke. Then you have tip pressure. I hate tip pressure!
My final day in Memphis consisted of sitting in a greyhound
station. I forget where I am when I sit in a Greyhound now. There all
the same inside. And to top it off. All of them have a deer hunter game
in them. Im the deer hunter pro now. I remember there is one in Panania
pub. God I miss Panania pub. Its strange the things you miss. My dad
and uncle went to the opening day of panania pub. I have birth rights
too it. Which has nothing to do with memphis.
Thankyou Very Much
