Edinburgh

Got the train to Edinburgh via Preston. Its wierd how many places in the UK have the same names as places in Oz. Theres Perth, Camden, Penrith, everything. Edinburgh is a beautiful city. Especially at night when everything is lit up with christmas lights and what not. It doesnt even feel like a city. Old buildings everywhere and no sky scrapers. I dont know why al the citys in Australia have sky scrapers. I used to think thats what made a city. But not many citys at all have sky scrapers.

Found the shuttle bus for the hostel, Globetrotters inn. Was a great place, kitchen, beds with curtains and individual light. It had 2 tv rooms and a decent sized movie cinema. Was great. Of course i dumped my gear and headed straight to the movie cinemana. And guess what was on. Yep, Chopper!! Whats the odds of that being on 2 nights in a row. Aye Neville?? Nev?? Ohh sorry mate....Neville...im sorry mate... I love when he punches his gf in the face and head butts her mum then says to his gf look what you did. You made your mum upset.  I love it!! Great movie. I cant stop saying Chopper quotes and people think im crazy because they dont know what im talking about.

The only bad thing about the hostel. Was that there was no one there really. Only long termers. Ive started to notice that all the hostels in the UK are full of long termers. Usually people from their own country. So in the end there is only like 2 beds left. This place had like 500 beds. I got lost a few times and never saw the same person twice. a. on the train

After chopper came wolf creek, another aussie movie. Not nearly as good as chopper. For some reason that was on ever night and i watched in 3 times. I watched a couple of other movies like 5th element and hitchikers guide too. Im in a real movie mode right now. Massive urges.

In the day Edinburgh is just as beautiful as night. I walked around and for some reason headed to the Scotish musuem because i read it was free and had great views of the city. It did but it also had a cool robot room where i spent hours making robots and making my name with blocks as well as using robots to fight off oil spills and answering questions on cloning. It was made for kids but I enjoyed it.

I walked around a bit more. Its bloody freezing here and the next day was spent doing much the same. Wandering around freezing. I did go to Edinburgh castle though with this american guy from the hostel. I bareley spoke to the american guy, he was the only person in the cinema at 2 am in the morning watching wolf creek for the 3rd time and he also woke up at like mid day. So we were both going to the castle. Cost me 10 pounds!! Thats bollocks! It was alright inside though, musuems on scots and stuff. I missed this 1 oclock firing of the cannon by 1 minute. I really have to stop sleeping in. In scotland it gets dark at 3pm. I wake up at 12, miss the free breakfast, get into town by 1, and have 1 hour of proper light. I didnt realise until i left edinburgh that there was a william wallace statue at the entry of the castle next to Robert the Bruce.

One thing special did happen on the last night though. I decided not to watch wolf creek for the 4th time and watched a great van dame movie. Kickboxer! Also before this i watched love actually again. I dont know whats wrong with me but im becoming a fan of Hugh Grant movies.

I was actually thinking of working a bit in Edinburgh. But the long termers didnt seem that interesting in the hostel and there wasnt any good paper or source of info for dodgy dealings. I also bumped into these 2 brits who i asked to take a picture and they said i should go to london and it just seemed like yes, yes i should go to london.

You here lots of English and Aussie accents around though in Edinburgh. The older people have the best accents though. I absoutley love the Scottish accent. If i was going to have any accent apart from Australian I would choose a scot.
