Arrived in Athens at 4am in the morning. I thought the bus was going to take longer and the driver woke me up in Athens. Found a alright hostel and decided because of the terrible outbreak all over my skin, to go to the doctors. So my first day was spent looking for a doctor.
After hours of pointless asking and walking around in circles i found the local hospital, who had closed for siesta. The guard told me to head for the really big hospital, i did. Found the dermetologist. Didnt have to wait at all. Im in, the next thing i know Im standing in front of two greek men in my underwear with the middle aged one saying in a husky thick accent, "show me your penis". "Its fine really" i said in a girly voice. Then the next thing i know. Im completley naked in front of two greek men. The window was open behind me with people walking past. There was a cool breeze which did not help the situation....
Funny enough the song Morning Train came into my head while i was standig naked in front of the two greek doctors. I think i drifted off into another world. To pretend i was in that situation. In the end. They made me get more treatment, told me to wash my clothes again (at 90 degrees, which everyone refuses to wash at), and got me to come back with a needle and jab me in the behind. I think im all good now. Apparently with scabies, you get like hives and stuff for weeks after. Even now, in the day i look at my skin and im like what the hell!.. Have to take antihistemines and stuff and it goes away.
So that was my whole first day in athens wasted, and 100 bucks on medication and expensive laundry down the drain. Although the actually doctors visit was free. Not like GERMANY!. The second day i went and saw the sights. So touristy it was crazy. But ive seen the acropolis and all that now. Tick it off the list. There is the big museum and stuff. But i was exhausted, ended up going back to the temple of zeus or something and waiting for the sunset on the posctards that never happened. Had dinner with an american girl i met while waiting for the sunset, and then stayed up talking to a swiss girl. The Swiss girl Sena didnt get the humour of her name being prounced xena in greece. I spent the next day walking around the empty streets of athens. In europe, on sunday, everything is closed. Movies, cafes, Internet, everything. Except for Maccas. I seemed to eat maccas and Gyros non stop. They have a Mctoasty here. Its like a toasted chese pancake sandwich. And what i dont get, is, that its a major city, but there is no day time movies. Thats poor. That day i just sat on a bench.
Athens was good, but apart from the sights its not that interesting. Saying this i have to go back there tomorrow. More thumbnails ...
