So to continue from where I was last.

I got on the train from Zagan. Fell asleep as usual, only to be woken by the two Passport guys when crossing the border. The polish one was stern and mean. Then the German guy stamped by passport as was really nice. The nicest passport guy i have met so far. This was to be the norm for the German people i met in Berlin. They all seemed to be so nice.

I fell asleep again, only to be woken by the ticket inspected. I showed him my ticket. He clicked it slightly. Saying that we had already passed Forst. He made me buy a ticket from Forst to Berlin on my credit card that cost like 40 euros. I think it cost so much because i was buying it on the train. Damm that stupid woman in the train station in Zagan. I almost said to the guy i want to get off next stop and go punch her in the ovary! Grrrr (That sounds really bad if you havent seen anchorman!)

Anyway, it was a 5 hour train ride. I arrived around 8pm found a cool hostel (Ciy Hostel) on the east side of the city next to the big centrepoint tower wannabe thing (tv tower). At this point i walked into the bathroom and checked out my itching body. I almost passed out from the sight. I was abslotlutley covered in bites. 100's and 100's of bites all over my back, arms, legs, feet. It was shocking. I thought thats it im going to the doctor right now before this goes to far. I went to the only doctor open. The hospital. As a credit to German efficiency the only time i waited was to see the administraition, which took 10 minutes. After that they sent me right in. It cost me 100 Euros!!!! My god!! And they had to take all my credit card details just in case of further treatment. Anyway, i walk in to see a doctor that spoke good enough english. He was real nice, i took of my shirt and he was shocked at the state i was in. He did a blood test and then quickly said he was done. He wasnt done, he meant he had just put the massive plastic connector piece in my arm. He then took 6 viles!! I was lying down thinking my body doesnt have 6 viles in it! After he was done he got a nurse to take me to the dermatologist accross the street. Im sure the nurse was a "lady" and im sure the other nurse he worked with was a "lady!" too because they obviously strong men with broad shoulders with long hair and an extraodinary amount of makeup on their face. Now i look back on it its a wonder i didnt go "Im a lady, i want a ladys doctor".

Anyway, i goto the dermatologist, who turned out to be the only evil german. She striped me down to my underwear and said in an angry voice "THESE ARE NOT A RASH, THESE ARE BITES, WASH YOUR CLOTHES, THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO". She was angry i annoyed her at midnight just for bites. She prescirbed me anti itch tablets and cream. Which became a mission to obtain. All this time, i was trying not to faint, especially when i had to take my shirt off with the big plastic thing for the viles stuck in my arm. Im not good with needles u see. I could fall over and rip my leg open and not care. But a needle in a vein... it makes me quezzy to talk about it now.

I went back to my hostel a bit bummed. But it made my day when i walked down Oranienburger St and saw all the drunks cheering up from a pub to the adajenct apartment block. I looked up as did the people in the cars on the street, to see a naked german girl parading around in front of her window waving to the people below. No i didnt take a picture!!. She definatley stopped traffic.

The next day was Operation Wash clothes and chemist day. I got all my clothes but what i had on. Went downstairs to the reception to find they were full. I spent 2 hours walking around looking for laundry mats. A girl at an internet cafe helped me find one nearby, i washed my clothes, then went back to use her internet place as a thankyou. I washed those clothes and dryed them till they almost burnt. Spent the rest of the day walking around, eating Maccas.. :(. Saw the brandburg gate and all the main sites. Spent the rest of the time looking for a chemist on a saturday. They were all closed. I found one that had tablets but not cream. It turns out that cream is almost impossible to get in Germany, so i still dont have it. Because its also impossible to get anywhere else. Because no one understands german or wont use other countries prescriptions! Got back late to wake up the next day and actually spend the day seeing berlin.

The real day at berlin was spent walking around checking out check point charlie, and trying unsuccessfully to find Hitlers bunker. Which i had no idea where it was. I didnt have a lonely planet on Western Europe and it showed. I also tryed to find a lonely planet book and a chemist that sold the anti itch cream beacause i was insanley itchy. The worst ever in my life. I learnt that chemist in german is said as "botika". There u go aye.. botika.

The only other thing i saw in Berlin, was a guy next to the market station near my hostel, singing John Denver and Bod Dylan really terribly. Thats about it. My feet were so sore i just couldnt do anymore walking and my pockets were so empty after all my hospital visits and tablests which cost me 100 dollars and macdonalds.... I thought it was time to leave for the Czech Republic. (Not where i am now)

I would have stayed longer, I loved Berlin, everyone was so nice, everything so clean and i have to say repeatidlevy efficient. It was just expensive... The thing i loved most about germany. THE COKE!!! Its different there. Comes in a slightly harder plastic bottle and tastes really different. I havent been able to find it since. Some guy told me this, and maybe it true. Maybe its got something to do with the fact that in Nazi time, Coke was not allowed to sell Coke in Germany beacause it was supporting the nazis, so they invented Fanta and sold that instead. Maybe they have different coke beacause of this somehow. Anyway, if you goto Germany. Try a Coke.
