21.01 - Yep, it's going to be an early night for me! It has been a very long day from 06.00 up until now. After getting a lift in Auckland from Alan in his very nice classic Jag, I made a few phone calls. I spoke to Grandma who sound like she misses me and was glad to hear from me, bless her. I also spoke to Jo whom it was good to hear from again. I then caught the Stray bus, finding to my astonishment that there was only one other person getting on! This girl was quite nice, she had a hangover and didn't say much but that was only to be expected. The driver was pretty much the same although we did get talking later on. The Stray bus was quite good as it stopped at a lot of different places 'off the beaten track'. It was a bit boring though due to the lack of people and our general tiredness. The weather was not all that good either so it made it a bit gloomy. We finally arrived in Paihia at about 15.00 and after a quick tour, we booked into the Pipi Patch. It is a nice hostel although it's a bit small but it still has a spa. I checked out the town centre which is small but has everything I need. It is also a fair bit cheaper than Auckland so I should have more money left over! As it's St. Patrick's Day, I have had a couple of pints to celebrate (no Guiness) as well as a BBQ tean. I have already made friends with an English lad but I have had to retire early because I am knackered. I have borrowed a book from Sharon and Alan so at least I have some new reading material. Books are expensive out here.
