23.00 - I have had a really good day today, I spent a lot of money but it was worth it. After another lie in to cure my tiredness from work, I decided to go to Rangitoto Island even though the weather wasn't all that good. After the 30 minute ferry there, I discovered it wasn't quite what I had expected. I don't know what I did expect but if I had though about it a bit I might have come better prepared. It was a volcanic island and the rock were very sharp and jagged so I could have done with my boots really. The weather turned out ok and I was soon hot and thirsty whilst walking up to the summit. I should have also brought a drink. I took a route that was off the beaten track and it was well worth it. I went through the jungle and got away from all the other tourists. It was hard work to get up to the summit but the views of Auckland and the other islands made it worth while. I went back to the ferry via the lava tunnels which were pretty cool although I could have done with a torch! I slipped several times and have got a few cuts and scratches but nowt serious. I was fairly tired when I got back so I though I would go to the pictures. I went to see The Lord Of The Rings even though I have seen it loads of times I though I had to seen as I am in New Zealand after all! Afterwards I went to the Globe to watch the Miss. Backpacker competition. It wasn't as good as last week although there was a stripper there who did a dance in her thong but took nothing off unfortunately. She was a right fittie and we had fun all the same. There was another bird there who I should have made a move on but I am too shy!
