22.40 - Another long day. After a bad nights sleep due to the big bright hotel lights right outside our window and the noise from all the traffic, I went shopping. I have worked out with the money I saved before I came out here, I have a budget of $56 a week which should be enough for breakfast and lunch at least. The kitchen facilities are not as good as the YHA but I'll make do. I have almost got an IRD number for taxation whilst I am working out here but I have still not turned my trousers up. I got a few days off now before I work next so there's plenty of time to do some sightseeing. Work today was a bit better, I definitely got a bit more respect as I was given the job of doing room service. I made a $5 tip from it as well! I also met a bird there who I am working on chatting up! Tips at work are almost non-existent, apparently all the full time waiters and waitresses get them, the bastards! I think I am already beginning to prove myself as a valuable asset there although that's not going to stop me looking for another job tomorrow. I am starting to feel a bit home sick, especially since I haven't really made any friends yet and I am feeling a bit lonely. I am tired this evening so I will be going to bed shortly. It has started raining for the first time since I got to New Zealand and it has been going on for a few hours now. Summer is coming to an end here and I can expect more, especially when I head south. I will have to send some more postcards home soon as well. It has been a while since my last batch. Will call home tomorrow as well.
