17.08 - I have had a great day. After getting a taxi to the YHA and paying $25 for it, I checked into my room. It's great, really clean and comfortable as is the whole hostel. I then decided to check out the CBD and get some dinner. My thoughts about the place were right, it's a really good city. Everything is modern and chilled out although it's quite hilly. In the end i decided to take the easy option and just get a McDonalds. After eating, i walked down to the harbour which was also very nice especially at the pier end where you can see the harbour bridge. I also saw the yacht the British us for training in their competitions. My next destination was the Sky Tower, the tallest in the southern hemisphere and dominating the skyline. After going up the super quick lifts i looked out through the windows to see the superb views across the city. There were also glass panels in the floor that you could walk across which were scary as the ground was a long way down. You could also see people doing the Sky Jump off the tower. They would jump off, dangle in mid air for a few seconds, just long enough to wave at you before they were dropped to the floor in a controlled descent! It was quite funny to watch! I paid an extra $3 to go a bit higher up but to be honest it wasn't really worth it! I finally came back to the Youth Hostel tired after all the walking i did. I had a pub lunch this evening which was very nice, bangers and mash! Will have to go food shopping in the morning, i can't live like this forever!
