Quito is a suprisingly nice city. I was staying in the "New City" area witch has a bunch trendy little bars and resturants. Though I did get into the old city a couple of times and it was quite nice aswell.
For a day trip I went up to the monument on the Equator, which is a few miles north of Quito. It has a flashy monument and a line on the ground, which is aparently not quite the correct spot. We also went to a museum, that claimed to have marked the "Real" equator. It was marked with GPS 12 years ago, when GPS was still scrambled. The guild proceded to tell us a pack of lies on a host of differnt subjects, and did some silly experiments that in no way proved anything about the equator. But it was still entertaining, and worth the trip.
It took a while before I uploaded these pictures because I left my camera behind at the museum. More on that in the next post.
