After 2250 kilometers (about 1400 miles) of driving, we made it to Valdivia, the end of the Gibson family super Chile roadtrip. The tiny toyota yaris we rented is still intact, but the engine makes funny noises at low RPMs and it is covered in dirt and bug strikes. The family flies back to Santigo tomorrow, and then back home the next day. From here I keep going south alone.
There is a fish market on the river here has sea-lions that eat the fish scraps. These aren't your standard California sea-lions these are big bad motha-fuckas, more like elephant seals. The big males really look like lions.
We also saw an old spannish fort, and had dinner at the kuntsman brewery.
