I am on the island of Ko Lanta now which is considerably more developed than Ko Lipe but nonetheless rather pleasant especially at the southern end which the ever continuing development has not entirely consumed yet.
The rain is back which is putting a serious choke hold on my reason for coming here - a day trip to the Emerald Cave on the island of Ko Muk - as recommended by my friend Bill. Its not that it rains all day but it has been raining for a few hours each day and is almost always overcast and no one wants to go snorkeling when its not at least mostly sunny so I am just going to wait it out and hope for a nice day.
I must comment on how easy it is to totally whittle away a whole day doing nothing. As many of you know I have always exceled at this but I feel that I am working on a whole different level here in SE Asia. Yesterday I rode a rented motorcycle down to the southern tip of the island. After that I checked some ferry schedules, spent some time e-mailing, rearranged the contents of my backpack which were laid out on my bed, drank some fanta, walked down to the beach...

I was finally able to visit Ko Muk and a few other islands around Ko Lanta including Koh Ngai. I was rather disappointed with Ko Muk and the Emerald Cave as the area looked like a ship had sank in light of all the other bodies in the water.
