Phew, the world of relaxing in kilifi seems a long way away now, hard to believe we are still in the same country! on saturday Stu and i flew back to Nairobi before beginning our 'gorillas and gameparks tour'! At the pre-departure meeting that night I was very excited to bump into my previous tour leader and her daughter. The meeting was interesting...there have been some changes to my truck life, namely-
1. we love Dettol! Previously we quite liked bleach but now we love dettol. anbd spray it on our hands 20x a day. Yummy.
2. we have hand-washing bowls. Also a new concept, as was the scoop out the water and new hand washing technique.
3. We do not have tea-towels. Instead we have arms and use them to flap our dishes dry. It is not possible to look cool whilst doing this, but does explain what i have seen other truck people doing for the last month, clearly not trying to take off.
4. We no longer have the fantastic lockers which held our back packs and other junk....it all goes underneath and our day packs float around the truck.
5. we are security CONSCIOUS! No more leaving the bags and all valuables in the tent but they are locked away.
6.the truck safe is no longer called Bruce (security code name) but Randy....think this could well be a security breach offence. Randy is a rubbish name-que gutter jokes and innuendos.
7. stu and i are definately in the miniority in terms of age, not been from Australia and not being either married or we suspect lesbians! Interesting stuff, we are controversial i feel!

Onwards from this, had worst day on truck so far on day 1of new tour! Great start. One tire change and the worst roads/tracks/mountains in the road and we arrived in the Masai Mara. Only 3hours after the latest predicted eta! Did arrive to a pleasant surprise, in a permanent tented camp with camp beds and standing space! Luxury! yesterday spent whole day on game drive. Was also pretty awesome, although am becoming a slight safari snob- the camera won't come out for less than 100buffalo dancing etc. Saw some of the wildebeast migration. I say some becue the wildebeast, not the smartest looking animals have been confused by the rains this year so don't know if they are coming or going. Amusing stuff.

COuld go on, but outta time and quick thanks for all the nice emails-mum, jess etc...jess hello if you read this far, good work! on truck for 2more days off for Gorillas! whoop whoop!

Thank you for the postcard
Hi Bex, glad to here your life of luxury has been replaced by a truck again! Thank you very much for the postcard - we absolutely love getting post that is not for randoms so it was very exciting. It is too heavy for our fridge magnet to hold it up but we have stuck it to the cupboard door in the kitchen instead. Went go-kating with work this week for our team night out. Lots of fun but I got a flat tyre, plus the day after I felt like I'd been in a boxing match not driving a little kart aorund. Also went to Space NK in Covent Garden last night for a maek-up evening, v nice but you could spend a fortune in that place. We had some vouchers so I bought a load of hair stuff. Have had Fred living in our house this week as he was homeless but he is moving out tomorrow into a new place I think. Say hi to Stu. Looking forward to the next installment. Hannah xxx
