Did a night game drive at Kruger park and nearly lept out of the truck when a male lion walked straight up to the little 4x4 and roared with all his might for about 5mins at us. The ranger then calmly informed us that that was not an aggressive roar but one to warn off other lions?!! Hmmm... can't say we were convinced it wasn't aggressive! The night drive was so fun but also freezing- they give you blankets for a reason and impossible to get any decent photos. Fortunately the next day, after my first freezing night under the stars wearing just about every item of clothing i own, at 6am we were back on the 4x4 and off for a whole days of game viewing at kruger! Until yesterday i would have said it was the best thing ever...but will come to that but was spectacular day, we saw a leopard, the first the ranger had seen for2months. Regular viewers of big cat diary will know how hard they are to spot. The cameuflage (spellling!!??)is unbelievable! We were also charged by a bull elephant. Again a heart stopping moment which was again brushed off by the ranger as a 'mock charge'. "If he does it again we are in real trouble". o good, how reasuring! Saw lots of other animals but loved the majestic elephants and giraffes the most!!
