Well, find one we did in good ol' Dingle!
The evening started with a fabulous meal at John Ashe's Pub. Two servers/bartenders were run off their feet as many of the other restaurants decided to close on Monday. However, they kept their sense of humour, dinner barely delayed and we had a grand time. Met a Californian couple who wanted the names of all the wee towns we had stayed in "just the experience we want but we haven't done any planning". Another couple were Irish/English - he had grown up in the area and they were staying at our B and B as well. Both of us had the baked cod which was incredibly good. Nice fresh local veggies too
We asked the server at John Ashe's if there was anywhere they'd have good authentic music on a Monday night and she said Definitely - The Courthouse on Green Street just down from our B and B. Music and Craic were fabulous - we even closed the place down! Place was full of
locals and only a few tourists like us. We drank our Guinness (well, I had a wee one) and got totally immersed in the tunes. What terrific fun!! Just loved the one 'quieter' chap who really led the group with his flute and interesting bagpipe like instrument - he was awesome.
There was a toast to Nate, an American who worked himself into a job for the summer at this Pub. Reminded me so much of our Mike - he so didn't want to leave Dingle and this Pub but "duty called back home". The locals loved him. Then the local "spinster" who had had more than enough beer and was so funny, hanging on to all the cute young guys who were so patient with her - quite amazing; then the sweet young thing who appeared rather annoyed with her handsome young guy for ignoring her. What fun to observe and augment the music.
Dragged ourselves back to the B and B when the music was done. "We'll sleep when we get home!!" our mantra.
