Where I stayed
So glad we did the wee road as described by Roger in Belfast. Had tea in Cushendun at Arthur's - tea with milk and sugar and a cherry scone. 2 groups of ladies having their morning tea together, laughing and carrying on until just before noon when they headed off probably to cook lunch for their menfolk :).
Stopped at Torr Head to climb up and look across the North Channel to Scotland- wonderful scenery and just no people at this time of year. We are soooo blessed with the weather - crisp sunny day!
Next stop, lunch! it was almost 2:30! and of course, the Pubs in Ballintoy? one closed for the day and the other full of a busload of tour folk with a waiter who simply wasn't into his job - quite funny. So did the 2 km walk out to Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge - short wee bridge but fabulous walk there and back - would have been closed if it had rained, so again, so lucky!
Whitepark Inn was next B and B - upmarket and full of Indian and Thai souvenirs. Bob the Innkeeper quite the strongly opinionated bloke and therefore hilarious. Greeted us with greasy hands from changing a flat tire on his wife's car :). Bathed, R snoozed etc in preparation of a gourmet meal at the Bushmills Inn down the street.
Sat in the adorable Pub at front of Inn and I had a White Lady!!!! couldn't believe they had them but then again, they originated at The Savoy in London and we are in the UK - keep forgetting. R had his "usual" - a Guinness. And then THE dinner - amazing meal - scallop and bacon (must do it - serve a slab of thick cut bacon with 2 grilled scallops) and yummy yummy lamb. Rich tried their salmon - not really much different and interestingly, they cannot get enough wild salmon to have on the menu!! Beautiful Italian Pinot Grigio. Dessert to share - bread pudding made with a croissant!! Taxi chap picked us up - wouldn't let us pay after trip to the Inn - he said he'd just wait for our call and come and fetch us and we could settle up then - such warmth in these folks - always laughing and teasing!
