Lunch with Joseph and Elizabeth – we were made to feel so welcome! Their home was lovely in a true Hungarian way – old cake molds hanging on white wall in the really modern little kitchen. It was interesting to hear Joseph speak of the European Union (everything has to have the nod of Brussels etc) What tumultuous times Hungary has lived through and continues to live in. No wonder the faces of people in the street do not seem/appear happy. Elizabeth had made a wonderful yam, ginger soup to start and then typical Hungarian chicken crepes with divine sauce. A thinly layered cake /cream between with chocolates and strawberries (their fruit here has amazing flavour!) made up the dessert, with rooibos tea as a finale. Beer made us feel oh so full but it was good to see E and J – such a coincidence that John and Lanett's neighbour Betty knows Elizabeth so well.
Back to hotel, caught a van taxi with a grumpy driver (Mellow Mood on back of taxi – NOT) and down to the boat.
Lovely greeting with lots of help to take our suitcases right from the cab – initial slight disappointment at the smallish size of our room but it’s lovely with so much storage space – soo good to unpack! Down for a beautiful meal even though our French Canadian tablemates were a bit "different" – she didn’t speak English so that made it difficult for any conversation with her. Lots of laughter with our good friends. I was so excited cuz the concierge said the masseuse would do yoga every morning at 7 a.m.!!
