Made breakfast by 9:30 a.m. Dining room was formerly a Knight's hall – all sorts of antiques on the wall, heavy dark wooden chairs, furniture – great eye candy while munching on pleasant foods for breckers. Our delightful young host indicated where we could rent bikes (a bargain at 7 Euro’s a day) so off we headed for Cochem – a flat 10 km right alongside the river on beautiful paths (for a good 20 km ride return)  Victoria (name of my bike) served me well with a few photo stops and relief for the butt – Victoria’s seat left a little bit to be desired – hard!!  But Rich’s was like ours at home so he was fine.  First Cappuccino’s at Cochem – not hungry for lunch yet.  Banks on both sides of the Mosel lined with vines so high and steep that a helicopter had to be used to spray them (insecticides or ??)   Back we headed along the other side of the river, ending with a wee ferry ride back to our side and right in front of our hotel!!   See pics.

Found a small restaurant/outside a wine cellar (real cellars these are) just up a street and over – all tiny streets, not really for vehicles they are so narrow and cobble stoned.  Another super salad for me and Rich had their homemade potato salad with 2 European sausages.  Crowd of older German men on a bike trip sat next to us – obviously having lots of fun chattering away – makes one wish one  was multilingual – the stories would be even better!!

Afternoon snoozes and showers prepped us for dinner #2 – tough decision – eat at our hotel sitting overlooking the river or go to the "cellar" restaurant behind us which looks really cool.  Only 180 residents live in Beilstein -  perfect size for a quaint delightful German town – we will return!!
