Breakfast buffet to die for! Even my oatmeal and warm milk! I think they cover every nationalities' needs! Getting my a.m. Yoga in each day so far so body is holding up well. Mary – Gunther has been awesome – nothing like having creature comforts when you wake in the middle of the night.
Krishna was our driver for the day. Kept explanations simplified and easy to understand. First stop City Market and created with a “dead man” blocking traffic with a crowd around him and a truck readying to haul him away – no Seriously! Driver just took it matter-of-factly
Pictures tell it all – hadn’t been to a flower market such as this – thousands and thousands of marigolds, roses, jasmine being threaded by hand into garlands. Attached pic shows a lady with one rose in her hand who gave it to me and gestured for me to put in my hair – and then indicated I needed another for the other ear. Blessed the first time today by a young man who told me what the brightly coloured piles were as seen in another attached picture. Fruit and veggies looked fabulous – must keep Indians healthy.
On to Bull Temple. An elephant carved out of a rock on top of a small hill. He is Nandi, Shiva’s Vahana (vehicle). We circled inside the small temple and then another blessing! Rich blessed as well by monk as picture shows. Nice to be away from typical touristy haunts. Just locals & families coming and going like the small girl and her pregnant Mom in picture – reminded me of Zac and Brenda. It is groundnut season (another festival time for India) –peanuts – roasted, dry, wet, any kind you desire. All taken in small quantities to be offered to various deities.
Stopped at Rich’s favourite bookstore “Gangarum” for his infamous fabric covered notebooks for boys (and others)
Krishna then became most insistent that we stop at a rug store and so we did to appease him even though we were pooped. Went in, turned around and insisted on being taken to hotel.
Back at 4 pm for a small lunch/dinner, glass of wine and R his Kingfisher beer in the Irish pub :) in our hotel. Fell asleep for a few hours, skipped dinner and slept off and on through night.
I liked today for all the interactions with local people – connections & relating.
