We were sitting in the bar enjoying an early evening drink when the Captain announced that at precisely 19.06 we would cross the Equator. By now people were gathering on deck, maybe they were expecting to see a line across the ocean :).
Sunset was at 6pm it was now dark, the moon was shining and the stars were out, it was a beautiful evening, we went back to our cabin stood on the balcony with a couple of friends and at 19.06 the Captain blew the ships horn (not sure of the nautical term maybe it's a whistle?).
We are now in the Northern Hemisphere and you know we didn't even feel the bump as we crossed over :).
Earlier in the day it was fun time around one of the pools, King and Queen Canute along with some pirate friends were performing a ritual for crossing the Equator by anointing passengers with ice cold water before throwing them into the pool
We have had the last our of themed evenings which was International - Not so many got into the spirit of the evening but David & I flew the flag for Great Britain. The bar waitresses are usually very smartly dressed in their Fred Olsen uniforms but on International evening they are able to show off their beautiful outfits from their homelands, they looked so pretty and you can see by the smiles on the faces how proud they are to fly the flag for their respective countries.
The days seem to be slipping by now as the holiday is in it's final stages but we still have lots to look forward too. Ho Chi Min city and a brief visit to Bangkok on our final day before flying home - that is still a week away so plenty more blogs before then.
