Our flight is booked for Wednesday and so we are excited by the realization that Lake Eyre, here we come
We checked out the Birdsville Working Museum, and were amazed at the amount of memorabilia housed there, collected over 20 years. And it had you saying "I’ve seen one of those at Nans or Mum had one of those" We spent a couple of hours looking around and even had a demonstration of under the counter goodies, very precious to John the owner. This activity gave us an appetite so off to the Birdsville Bakery for a coffee and pasty for me and a coffe and Curry Camel Pie (yummy)for Lyle. We are out at the Birdsville Racecourse today, and it’s a solemn place now but will be buzzing 1st week September. Lyles visited the Geo Thermal Power Station with ‘Dusty’ the owner of the Bakery. Check out the photo of the boiling water, its 100degrees. His curiosity never ends, good on him.
The park has been filling over our time here, 4WD’s coming in from the Simpson Desert and Birdsville Track. No clean vehicles here. Our last night and we are heading down to the Birdsville Pub and its packed. Lots of atmosphere and lots of signs to read and laugh at. We have finally ticketed a ‘want to’ off our bucket list. Plenty more to come.
