Phil an I made the journey as a honeymoon couple to meet all my family that Phil had as yet not met, some came from Capetown and some from Johannesburg.

We were also attending our brother in law's 60th birthday in Alfei Mesashe.
The day of 'Masada' was a hot day, no may I say a HOT day!
So excited!

Our visit to Masada was to be as memorable as I had hoped for.  What I knew before was:

Firstly,  it was in the first century AD, that the Jewish Zealots held the inpregnable fortress on the top of Masada.
Then I saw Masada, the movie, starring Peter O'Toole and Peter Strauss,in the same spectacular setting. My enthusism grew daily when I realized we were actually going there.

And now I was here at Masada!!  And it was all I hoped it would be, the heat, the yellow dust and the eerie feeling of lives lost; people who had one fault, they believed what they believed.

A fantastic day out, but give yourself time, take plenty of water with you, and some nibbles.  There is no Mc Donald's up there!!
