Break-through!

Jaqueline Ellison´s day :)
Today I had the most amazing experience! When I work at the orphanage, I usually work with the same girl - Ana Cecilia. She is the oldest of the three sisters, and requires one-to-one care. Today I was sat with her, trying to calm her down, as she was very distraught. Nothing worked, I tried stroking her hair, cuddling her, nothing. Now, Ana doesn´t talk, and she never smiles. Everyone assumes she can´t understand what you say to her, but I sat next to her, and whispered in her ear: "No sé si puedes entenderme, pero te quiero querida" = "I don´t know if you can understand me, but I love you, sweetheart" Then the most amazing thing happened, she stopped crying immediately, looked me straight in the eye and reached out for my hand. She spent the rest of the day beaming at everyone and laughing. I have never seem her smile before, it was incredible! It is so sad to think that she has probably never be told she is loved before, but I´m going to tell her everyday from now on, and we will see what change that brings! Oh, she is so lovely, I would adopt her if I could, but she is 23, and I´m sure there are laws about having a mother younger than yourself! It really is moments like that, which make the parasites and the salmonella all worth-while! Lots of love, Bethany xxxxx
Muchos besos, Bethany xxxxx
