Made it to Budapest. It's a neat city (a bit hot though), with great architecture and it's quite big. Even though this is high season, there are tons of empty streets and restaurants. Budapest used to be divided into Buda and Pest, which are separated by a river. They are very different in terms of appearance (Buda has hills and trees, Pest is mor commercial) so between both, you get a great city.
The train here from Lublijana seems long and police kept coming on the train to check passports. All the sudden I realized we had gone through Croatia, just seems funny to end up in different countries without even realizing it. While a lot of people seem to speak English here, it's definitely less than I've seen in other countries. Yesterday I walked around the city all day and saw the major spots. Took lots of pictures because I realize a lot of you probably haven't/ won't come here. It strange to see people come and go here in one day, because I'm starting to realize how much of the city you really do miss by doing that. 3-4 nights is much better.
My last day in Slovenia was great (i don't think i wrote about it yet). i went to Lake Bled and walked all around it, swam out to the castle in the middle of the lake (most people take a rowboat) and also took a bus to Lake Bohinj about and hour away. There I hiked to a waterfall. It was one of the best and relaxing (even though I was constantly moving) days i had. Lakes and mountains, hiking and swimming, castles and waterfalls - again I'd put in a plug for Slovenia (and actually just directed another backpacker there). To put it in crude terms, it's sort of like Switzerland in terms of beauty but for about half the price.
Budapest for a few more days, then off to the mountain huts in the Slovak Republic!

Pics!
Show us your pics! I've heard lots of great things about Budapest (didn't know it was two different cities). After Slovakia, where is next?? You've already done Austria, right? Will you go into Poland, or former Russian republics?? The Baltic states?

It shows the top 25 TravelPod travelers by number of countries visited, number of entries, number of pics, and number of people visiting your site. I think you've got to get into the twenties for countries to crack that list...should be easy for you! First place is 45 countries.
