To Barnaby Bear and Year One

Hello hope you all enjoyed your summer holidays. We are in Sydney, Australia. The flight here was good it took us 7 and ½ hours from Singapore. The weather here is quite cold. In Australia August is in their winter so it is cold and rains a lot more. Their summer time is around Christmas when everyone goes to the beach and has BBQ's.

We are staying in a nice place called the Pink House and it is painted bright pink. We have been out exploring most days. On our first day here we went to see the Sydney Opera house, which is very famous. It was really good we also saw the Harbour Bridge. I have sent you a postcard with them both on. The people here are Australians and they speak the same language as us but some of the words are a little different.

They have lots of colourful birds here. When we were in Singapore we saw some very brightly coloured lorikeet birds at the Bird Park. Well in Sydney they are wild. They are so pretty and make a lot of noise. They also have wild cockatoos. We haven't seen any kangaroos or koalas yet but that is because we are in the city.

We went on a very nice walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach. We saw lots of people surfing, the waves are quite small at the moment so they weren't doing any tricks. We went paddling but not for long because the water was freezing! It's very nice here. We have been exploring the city and eating lots of nice food. Tonight we are going to try Kangaroo Steak, which is meant to be very tasty. You can also eat alligator and emu.

We are off to Adelaide tommorrow on the train. It is going to take almost 24 hours, a whole day!

Talk to you all again soon.

Love Bertie Bear, Julia and Chris xxx
