Well we were in Chiang Mai in Thailand last time I wrote but we had a slight change of plan. Julia wasn't very well so we decided to go and see her Dad so he could look after her for a while. Julia's Dad lives in Malaysia which is the country below Thailand.
We had to get the night train again back to Bangkok, which was fun. Then we got on a little plane to Malaysia. We were sat next to the window and it only took 2 hours.
As Julia was not very well we have spent a lot of time in her Dads apartment watching movies and swimming in the pool. There is a nice swimming pool here for all the people who live in the apartments and we've been down there most days.
When Julia was feeling better we went out to explore the city a little. We are Kuala Lumpur which is the Capital city of Malaysia. The people here are Malaysian and they speak Malay. A lot of Malaysians in Kuala Lumpur can speak English and the Malay word for hello is the same as ours.
The first two pictures I have sent you are of the view from Julia's dad's apartment during the day and at night. The 2 towers that look the same and are next to each other are called the Petronas Towers. At the moment they are the second and third tallest buildings in the world. The Tallest building is the Taipei 101 Tower in Taiwan. We went to see them and they are very tall, the bridge that links the two together is a walkway and you can go up to have a look. Unfortunately we weren't able to do that on this trip so we shall have to go up next time we are here. I have sent a photo of me stood in front of them.
The other really tall tower in the photo is called the Menara Kuala Lumpur. It is the 4th tallest telecom tower in the world. We went up to the viewing area near the top. You can normally see for miles but it was really cloudy and then it started raining so we couldn't see very much.
It rains here everyday normally in the afternoon. It doesn't rain for very long and it is still quite hot when it rains. It is the rainy season here at the moment. They don't have 4 seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter) like at home. Here they have a tropical climate which means it is hot and sticky all year round and at certain times of the year it rains more than normal. We just make sure that we carry an umbrella with us.
Now that Julia is feeling better we are going to explore the city a little bit more so I will write to you when we have seen and done some more things.
