Paris, France (5/12 - 5/17)

By now, I would almost consider us pro's at riding public transportation... We stayed just outside of Paris and could see the Eiffel Tower from the playground and reception area of the campsite! Sophia loved that it was lit up at night :) We went to the Louve and saw the Mona Lisa and we got a two day pass for the hop-on hop-off tour busses so we could get an idea of all the areas/districts of Paris. It is such a beautiful city and I really didn't expect to see so much green... grass, plants, and trees all over the place!) We were waiting in line for quite a while for the Eiffel Tower but the view was more amazing than expected. A nice lady came up to us in line and was trying to sell some extra tickets - at first we declined because I thought she only had a few but it turned out that she had the exact number that we needed of adult/child tickets so we agreed to hop out of line and join her and her family. Hmmm, I think Don was a little hesitant?? Her English was limited, as she spoke French and German, (she learned English 40 yrs ago and didn't use it often). But it turned out great - we gave her 25 euros (5 more than she asked) and she was thrilled and we got a bit of a bargain too...

Euro Disney - We couldn't come all this way and not go to Disneyland to compare it to California... so we got up early, took the campground shuttle to the train station and rode two trains and arrived at the front gates of Disney - Very cool! We even helped a family from Finland buy their tickets at the automated teller machine and Sophia and their little girl played the whole train ride... We met an Aussie family with twin girls that were about to turn 12) They were hillarious and we exchanged stories of our travels... Disneyland was smaller here, but the same layout, and just as friendly and clean (actually it was noticeably friendlier than some other parts of France, and we joked that at least you could count on a clean bathroom fully stocked with toilet paper, and toilet seats). HeeHee. We saw the Aussie family 4 or 5 more times in the park and we laughed every time! Everyone wants to go to Australia now because of the different people that we have met on this trip and Sophia's other reason is that this was the filming location of Aquamarine - a movie that we have all seen way to many times to count...
