I went for the Aorai walk with Arnaud, another French from the pension. Starting our walk at 5:30am, we were back just over 8 hours later. It was a fantastic walk with impressive views and breathtaking walk, starting at 600m high, finishing at 2067m before going back on the same track.
The trek follows the natural ridge of the mountains with incredible views on both sides with a very narrow path and even some rope to help you when it is too dangerous. To slip is not advised and we had to convince ourselves that it was somewhat safe to continue after the first "refuge".
We stopped 15 min before the summit, too scared of the path collapsing beneath us. The trees were not there anymore to fix the thin crust of soil and the ground was moving on each footstep. With the wind and the exposition, a lot of people finish the last 30 min on all fours. I have better plans than dying in Tahiti so we went back down.
11th: it rained all day so I stayed in house, half asleep, half reading.
12th: very sunny but no change: staying in da house, half sleeping, half reading "100 years of solitude"
