just landed.
This is supposed to be Paradise so I hope I'll have plenty of nice pictures to upload soon. For the moment it's dark so I'll see tomorrow. Everybody speak French, how bizarre!! I'm not much of a foreigner anymore. weird.
There's a nice mountain (2200m) in the center of the island so I'm sure that will motivate me to skip the beach and the beautiful lagoon for one day at least.
1st day: visit of Papeete market, walk around, bought food at the market, checked out the beach...
The plan is to do absolutely nothing all day the 7th, rent a car to do the tour of Tahiti the 8th, go to Moorea the 9th and a big walk up the mountain the 10th. I'll see after that.
The 7th was highly successful in doing nothing. The 8th was really good and instructive: there are almost no beach on Tahiti!!! There are rocks most of the time. The great stuff though is that the coral reef starts about 1 or 2 m from the edge of the water. Snorkeling is therefore very good straight from the start. Like the west beaches near Auckland in NZ, the sand is black from the volcanic rocks.
