The first feeling is not a great one. Singapore looks just like any other city, just cleaner and more expensive. I'll probably try to get on a tourist sightseeing bus tomorrow to have a overwhole view of the city and get the right feel.

The second day brings a better vibe about the city. I had a good walk and a 2h bus ride. Singapore is not the best for pedestrians but it is so much better than KL, bringing a soul to it.
The really impressive aspect is the shopping centers. There are dozens of them, everywhere and each is massive. This is unbelievable and everybody is walking with a shopping bag. What I have seen in other capitals in Europe, SEA or even NYC is nothing compare to the shopping frenzy you find here, and they are building more of them.

Still here the 12th when my flight for Jakarta was the 11th. Not a good sign.
Because I booked the flight on the internet, I was supposed to show the credit card used to do the purchase. Because it was the card I lost in Cambodia, I had to produce a police report (that I obviously don't have) or a bank statement with my names and the transaction (Nationwide did not want to fax it after saying they could... bastards). I had therefore to pay for a new ticket at around US$ 200!!. No way!!!!!

3 hours later, I had my ETA visa and a single - and very expensive - flight to Brisbane for the day after. Who needs the cultural shock, beautiful beaches, amazing jungle, unbelievable volcano treks, ancient great temples, cheap life and perfect weather of Indonesia when Brisbane offers 09c temperatures, expensive everything and limited activities (for a traveler planning to stay several weeks like me)? I'm asking the question... Unless of course your Colombian girlfriend (met in Vietnam and with whom I traveled 3 weeks in Thailand) happens to be in Brisbane. Indonesia can wait.

So hopefully everything will be in order at the airport tonight and my next entry will be from Down Under, in the "Pays d'OZ", where I should stay until the 15th September.
