So many people talked about the the famous Indian trains that I wanted to add few lines on the subject.
Firts, I have to say that I don't find anything too special about the trains. They run almost on time + or - one hour, the do an average of 55km/h and are very well organised compare to the rest of Rajasthan (and I suspect India).
What is more interesting, is the people. For once, you are not a tourist but a passenger like the others. That means that you can have more trust in people and actually can spend hours talking to them.
The best part of the train journey is when you wait at the station. I often arrive one or two hours in advance, first because I am always early and second because I love watching people in an Indian train station.
It is like the rest of India but as a micro-society and you find the usual moving shops, chai makers, all sort of people and animals. Most of them are on the platforms but a lot of them are also on the rails, moving stuff from one platform to the other or begging for few Rs. Sometimes trains have to slow if a cow decided to eat a paper on the rail.
