Where I stayed

So we arrived here on Sat arvo after sleeping surprisingly well on the bus. We strolled around the dusty streets in awe of the number of tour agencies, bars and restaurants, this was definitely somewhere we wanted to stay a few days!

Sat night we went for a few cocktails and food, boy did it get cold in the evenings, luckily all resaurants and bars have huge opens fires...

On Sunday, we had a lazy morning and then headed out on a trek to the Death Valley, down massive sand dunes, running in bare foot, felt like a little kids again, and could see how sand boarding would be awesome here! But not the going back up the hill, definite no no for me... Then we had another 2 hr trek around the Luna Valley, famous because the surface is supposed to be very similar to the surface of the moon (geologically speaking). Was pretty cool to see all the salt markings on the rocks and even to taste it. Our quide was full of all the facts on how the valley was formed, felt like I was back in a geography lesson but a fun one!

Now we are onto Monday and its been lazy day for us, trying to work out which tour to go on a 3 day jaunt through the salt plains and coloured lakes of Bolivia. There have been bad reports on all (and good) and some terrifying stories in a book in the tourist office! Anyway, we have opted for one called Estrellas del Sur, so fingers crossed...

When we next have a chance we will tell you all and hopefully have some amazing piccies of the colourful lakes, geysers and flamingoes!

Hasta luego,

Ben y Claire
