Dal Bhat is the national food of Nepal.  Nepalis eat (with their right hand) Dal (lentils) Bhat (rice) twice daily, every day; once around 10am and again around 8pm.  Dal Bhat always comes as lentil soup with rice, but the rest is always a mystery and, therefore, part of the fun.  Sometimes you get potato or chicken curry, cucumbers, pickled radish, hot sauce, papadum (like Indian roti) and/or beans.  Also, when you order this dish you are served until you are full.  What's that?... You want another 2 kg of rice?  No problem.....

All hail the delicious and filling Dal Bhat, the perfect trekking food that helped us boys get up and down the mountain!

Re: yum
No formal training was acquired for making Dal Bhat, but through careful observation we may be able to create this staple back in the US.

Benny plans to take some cooking classes in Laos and/or Vietnam, so look out for some new tricks in his bag.....SPICY!
