We spent the better part of a week in Kathmandu adjusting ourselves to a place like none we've ever been. Afternoons were spent taking day trips to nearby towns to visit the temples and squares.
Kathmandu is a bustle of activity and the streets are packed every day with people, animals, cars, motorcycles, bikes and rickshaws. The smog here is pretty bad and after several days we were ready to head off to the mountains for some fresh air and the next BIG adventure......

Watch the Cows
Hey buddy. Namaste. Kasto Chha? Tik Chha?
Kathmandu is a crazy place. Polluted, diseased, and hectic. Lived there for a 7 months. Watch out for those cows. The punishment for hurting a cow or killing a cow is death. That's why the taxi drivers drive so iradically around them.
THe stupas are incredible. Bringing me back home home. Used to study on the steps of Boudhinath. Only circumabulate around clockwise though. Where you there for the celebration of Holi?

Hi Guys- just catching up on all your travels so far. Thanks so much for the postcard. I was definitely confused when I got it and tried to guess what I was missing. It made for an interesting bar conversation. I am really enjoying all your photos and notes on your travels. Did you take some of those chicken in the baskets or did you just weave them in there?
Re: Watch the Cows
Hello Reader - You are correct in your assessment of Kathmandu. It took us nearly a week to get ourselves adjusted to the craziness of just being in the city. No cows were harmed by any of the members on the PLT II. We, like the Nepalis, have the utmost respect for the cows; unless we are at at Mc Donald's in the US.
PS - Boudhinath was one of our favorite places around KTM.
Re: magnanimous
Not sure about those chickens as we were scared to get to close to them in fear of getting our faces pecked.
You are welcome for the postcard....
