Mount Taranaki AMC Hike

The Around The Mountain (AMC) hike was our farewell tramp in New Zealand. We stocked up on really good food (really good trail food, that is) and set off for four final days of hiking in Egmont National Park. The entire west side of this mountain was washed out by a huge rain/snowfall a few weeks earlier, and therefore track conditions were really rugged. This turned out to be our most difficult hike (by far). We crossed dozens of rivers, climbed up/down many aluminum and wood ladders, scaled a few sections of the track using ropes and also managed to loose the trail a few times.
The weather was great and we had the huts to ourselves on all three nights - what luxury. This was a great ending tramp.
