Shortly after setting off, Tongariro quickly became our favorite hike (a repeating theme throughout our time here in New Zealand).  We spent four days on this track, tramping over and around volcanoes, alpine lakes and rocky landscapes.  These volcanoes are the only high altitude landforms for miles around; and, as a result, we enjoyed amazing views every day.  We were lucky enough to have the 20 person Ketetahi hut to ourselves on the second night and were treated like royalty by the hut warden (and new friend), Steve.  Thanks again for the wine and espresso....

If you are ever lucky enough to travel to New Zealand, this is a hike that you cannot pass up.
