We arrived in the depths of Grand Central so it all looked a but gloomy when we first arrived but it soon opened up into the large open space that all the films love to use. After a bit of confusion as to where to go next we found a tube map and made a beeline for the hostel. We got there and as it turned out we weren't allowed to check-in BUT we were allowed to dump our bags in a secure locker for the day, so we did that and headed back out again
We wanted a full day to abuse the NYC 'ticket' that lets you into all the attractions so we decided to get all the free stuff done today. That meant going to Ground Zero (construction site now), Wall Street (cool but can't go inside), various very tall buildings and finally the Brooklyn Bridge. At a mile long and constructed over 100 years ago, it was long but had some very nice views from the middle. Again Abi and Michelle refused to look 'down' as all that separated us from the water 150 feet below was a few 2x4s.
Once that was done we spent some time in Brooklyn looking around (We got lost - Abi) before chancing upon a subway station and making our way back to the Hostel. We spent a few hours there resting and showering and whatnot then Abi and I went out for a meal leaving the other 2 to enjoy some free BBQ and do what they wanted. That pretty much sums up the day really.
