Trinidad & Tobago:
Used a half marathon in Trinidad as an excuse to get away for the weekend.  I was accompanied by another CIDA intern also dying to get away for a weekend.  I was blown away by large buildings and traffic lights in Port of Spain.  I guess I had gotten used to Georgetown and had forgotten how crap the infrastructure really is.

Took a gorgeous ferry ride between Trinidad and Tobago.  Tobago beaches were amazing - and good snorkeling.  Beats the mud water along the coast of Guyana.

The half marathon was good fun.  Only one barefoot runner beat me - but that was humbling enough.   A Kenyan won it and there were some quite fast T&T runners.  A tropical shower hit within the first 20 minutes - which entirely soaked me and caused uncomfortable chaffing for the rest of the race - not to mention very soggy shoes.  Then the sun came out in full force and it was incredibly hot for the rest.  Barely broke 1:30.  And I believe I was the first white male.  Normally I wouldn't qualify my results by race - but it was emphasized by spectators cheering/harassing me the entire way yelling forest gump-like "run whiteboi run" and a couple times "don't let whitey beat you" to encourage people behind me.  Amusing I suppose.
