Hello from, Bonjour de Zanzibar!
We have just arrived in Zanzibar after a 3000Km journey through Kenya and Tanzania. It has been almost three weeks on the road now and we are very happy with the first few weeks of our trip. The safari part has been amazing, we have seen numbers of lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, zebras, gazelles and one cheetah. The various locations we visited were all more beautiful than the previous ones, but my favorite is Masai Mara National Park because of the variety of widlife we have been able to see there. It is quite surprising how easy it is to spot animals in these parks. We have also met lots of wonderful local people, like the Masai tribe who are still living a very primitive lifestyle and leave in huts made of cow dung! The men are very fierce warriors though so better no look for trouble. They wear lots of jewellery and drink fresh blood in the morning, lovely! I find the african women very stylish wrapped in their colourful fabrics. There is lots of life and colours in Africa. Kids in rural areas are absolutely exstatic to see white people and it makes their day to say Jumbo to us which is the local hello.
The sun is quite relentless, spending time sunbathing is out of question, my skin is burning very quickly... Now we can rest a bit on the island of Zanzibar. We are now in Stone Town, known for the formar slave and now spice trade. There are beautiful white sand beaches up in the north. This is where we will be in the next 3 days, youpie! More thumbnails ...
