So today it starts (I am writing this 2 months into my trip the other side of the world in Adelaide Australia 10092 miles from London, but never the less today was when it started), well actually I guess it started about 6 months ago when I was getting thoroughly fed up with my job, and decided that I couldn't face looking around for another job, especially as I had no idea what to do, or where to do it, all I knew is that I didn't want to carry on doing what I was doing (In house software consultancy and IT helpdesk support) where I was doing it (where ever they decided to send me in Europe, most recently Poznan in Poland, I very nice place but not easy to get to with no direct flights meaning virtually a full day of travel). My job with all the travelling it entailed was taking over my life and I am far too young (24) for that to happen. before anyone decides to point it out I am aware of the irony of giving up a job because I was travelling too much, to go travelling, but that's what I did.
After a particularly miserable/difficult week, I had made my mind up I had the money, and no ties to stop me, no wife, no kids, no mortgage, my rental contract was up in a few months, I didn't even have a car to worry about, so I wandered into the travel agency STA travel, and asked them what they had for me, i had done a bit of research and had 3 requirements:
I) To go round the world
II) To go to Cambodia and see Angkor Wat
III) To go to Peru and see Machu Picchu
I was booked within half an hour, the only thing left was to renew my passport, I had put it through the washing machine, a few weeks before.
With everything now sorted I'm off, next stop Bangkok, I hope I like it...
