So, this coming year, 2013, is looking to be jammed with chaotic challenges and ambitious antics. The more notable and probably most interesting (in the eyes of my fellow blogger), is my planned road-trip from Bristol to Istanbul. I'm currently scheduled to finish the third and final year of my University Degree at the end of May 2013. That is when this trip is going to take place. The plan is to utilise this blog to hopefully add some kind of structure to the proceedings and provide a clear canvas to which I can throw ideas at, in order to make the trip a success. The journey will take me and my fellow blogger, 'danclarkeuk', (who is solely creating his blog, to constantly undermine me in his ever-lasting effort to prove his superiority over mankind) from Bristol, England, over northern Europe, down into the belly of Eastern-Europe and into Turkey
'Swiftly On Moving' - We've decided that we're going to buy a low budget car, kit it out with anything and everything we'll need for the 5555 mile round trip to Istanbul, then on returning to the UK, sell it, to claw back some of the money which so futilely makes the world go round. We've set aside five weeks in the summer to undertake the trip, but one week of that will be spent in Istanbul. Once we've purchased the car, serious planning can take place and we can start to build on the foundations which this blog effectively, is.
'Fuel For Thought' - Google maps has calculated (extensively) that the average car will need £1090.00 in fuel to complete the 5555 mile journey. So that's how we've budgeted for that! Naive or simply brilliant? Other factors we have had to take into consideration when coming up with the budget are; car insurance, Turkish visas, Euro-Tunnel, food and accommodation and the cost of the car itself. £1,500.00 each is the provisional budget, which includes a very, very, small amount of spare cash for bribes and other get out of jail situations.
So, 5 Weeks, 5555 miles, £1,500.00. How Hard Can It Be?
