It was a pretty good journey that I shared with Sami, Noah and Mani. It was on time and air conditioned. I wasn't really counting on that fact so hadn't packed a jumper in my hand luggage. I had however packed my rain coat so I wore that. haha. God knows what people thought of me, but I slept most of the way so didn't care.
We arrived at 11am and only had a 30 minute wait for the chicken bus to Chetumal.
It took us another 3 and half hours to get to the Belizean border. The crossing for me went pretty smoothly. I can't quite say the same for Sami. Her tourist visa only allowed her to be in the country until the 10th January.. ooops. She got taken a side and was told that she had to pay $1000 or face a six month prison sentence. By this point I was sat on the bus waiting for her to come out when I was called in because she had managed to get them to grant her a visa extension and needed some extra money. Fortunately for her she only had to pay $50! She came out just in time because the bus driver was just about to remove our bags from bus as he had a schedule to keep.
We then made it to the Mexican border which went a lot smoother, however this time the bus didn't bother to wait for us! If it did then we didn't see it! haha. Wasn't too much of a problem as we just caught another bus to Chetumal.
Again timing for me was perfect because as we arrived into Chetumal bus terminal there was a bus waiting to leave for Mahahual so I said goodbye to Sami and got on it.
I arrived in Mahahual at 7pm having spent 14 hours on the road only to realise I didn't really know where I would stay! Not great planning on my part! I asked around and found a fairly cheapish place to stay at the end of town.
The reason I was back in Mahahual was to meet up with Zoe who I had known from my GVI days and been the manager of the dive shop in Roatan. I didnt really know where she was so I dropped her a message which luckily for me she read fairly soon after and came to get me.
We spent the evening catching up and drinking way too much. Zoe showed this pretty cool bar that had a pool table, darts, xbox and Wii. So we played some pool, at which I got my arse handed to me on a plate. I was able to return the favour by winning, fairly comfortably I might add :-p, at Wii bowling. :-)
I spent the next day slightly hung over and in the sun updating my blog.
In the evening I Zoe and I went for some pizza and a few beers. Being that it was a Sunday everywhere was pretty quiet so it was an early night.
Was up at 7:30 to pack up and catch a 9am shuttle to Limones. I waited 30 minutes and caught another bus up to Playa.
