The next day we went into St Gallen with Elsa. We walked around the old city, and visited their beautiful church and main shopping centres. In the eve Heinz cooked my favorite dinner ever – Roesti!! And we watched 'Inspector Rex'.
On Friday Elsa took us to a mountain up a gondola, and we went for a walk
. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best – very cloudy – so the views weren’t really there. But it was nice to be in the mountains! I can’t remember the name of the mountain we were on, but it has caves you can walk through, and a little church on the side of the mountain using one of the caves, pretty cool! We came back down on the gondola and ate sandwiches while watching the cows with their bells.. Very relaxing. Then on the way home we stopped by an Appenzeller cheese factory where you can watch all the processes they go through to make the cheese, which was pretty interesting! We watched the cheese-makers go through all the processes for quite a while and had a drink at in the restaurant before going back to Gossau for an authentic cheese Fondue!
We got up early the next morning and said goodbye to Heinz and Elsa, and caught our 1st train to get to Prague. It took us about 10.5 hours to get there.. LOOOOOONG time sitting on trains!!
After a week in Basel we jumped on the train to visit my Uncle and Aunt (Heinz and Elsa) in Gossau – a small town in the north east of Switzerland. On the way we spent a few hours in Zurich where we just wandered around the city centre, had lunch and sat by the lake. Heinz and Elsa met us at the train station and walked us back to their place – about 2 minutes away! They took us for a drive up to a place which gives a great view over St Gallen (the main city) and the surrounding area, and then walked around the town.
