Yay we liked Granada.. all the streets smell sweet from the shishas, insence and tea wafting out of all the shops - mmmmm..

And we liked our hostel too! Very laid back - everyone working there was a traveller so there were hardly any rules for once - yay! No nazi breakfast here either - alllllll you can eat!!

Hmm.. what did we do..

We got there after spending OVER 10 HOURS on a bus from Valencia -looooong day! Went for a bit of a walk around the city, watched a busker, cooked some pasta and hit the sack as we were buggered!

Our 1st day was spent exploring the city, just relaxing and enjoying the chilled vibe Granada offered.. we had eaten a few too many dried apricots on the bus ride the day before so took it fairly easy as our stomachs were moving around a fair bit! We spent the eve hanging out with a crew from the hostel and went to our 1st Flamenco show! It was in a bar, with a female dancer, singer and 2 guitarists who had crazy crazy skills. The dancer had such an intense face - Megg and I were really scared of her! She made you want ot apologise even though you had no idea why.. We loved the dancing and clapping - we are both officially taking lessons when we are back in OZ!

The next day we got up early and headed to the Alhambra, a huge beautiful arab palace (google it, its amazing). We got there at about 8 and lined up with the masses to get our ticket in, it wasn't too bad, we walked through the gates at 8.45 into the gardens, but had to wait until 11.00 before we could enter the palace, so we spent a coulple of hours wandering the large, well kept gardens. The palace was amazing, all the rooms were decorated with beautiful tiles and intricate patterns all over the walls and ceilings, as well as having huge fountains and stunning views from the windows. Well worth the early start!

More flamenco in the evening - this time we went ot a large stage performance in the gardens of the Alhambra. We loved watching the male dancers do their stuff - absolutely amazing how fast they can move their feet!! And the women were great too, but they all had really big dresses on so we couldn't see their feet half the time.. Boo!

Our last day was spent enjoying the city again, and we found Skype so got to chat to home, including Grandma and Grandpa which was really great! We realxed in a tea house with a strawberry Shisha, and went to a tapas bar for dinner (free with drinks of course!). We went back to the hostel and made friend with 3 more Aussies, joined them at another tapas bar and another tea house (cafe shisha this time!). Finished the night with a few drinks at the hostel...

Next stop SEVILLE.....
