Show trip route
Well, we landed at LAX at noon yesterday, and we are staying at a good
hostel on Hollywood Blvd - right near where the star footpath starts
and walking distance to the Kodak Theatre where the Oscars etc are.
slept a bit on the plane so jet-lag hasn't been too intense, we have
been able to stay up at normal times! We had a sleep when we arrived at
the hostel, had some free beers at the hostel bar and then headed down
Hollywood Blvd for dinner, then walked along seeing the sights and
jumped in a taxi to Sunset Blvd to check out 'Whiskey a go go' (the
doors were the house band there, that's where they were discovered) and
the Roxy (also another famous club)
into Whiskey a go go and the show had already started, and the Roxy was
closed for a private function so we went into another smaller club and
saw 2 bands - the 1st one was really good except they were dressed like
the wiggles, and the second band really wanted to be Guns n Roses, but
they were good to if you like that stuff.
Today we went on a
tour of LA, We went up to the HOLLYWOOD sign, drove around the
beautiful suburbs of Beverley Hills, Bel Air etc.. and saw heaps of
famous peoples houses - saw Jim Morrison's old place, the house The
Ozbourne's had when they had their show (Christina Aguilera lives there
now) and Dr Phil's place, Paris Hilton's old place, Michael Jackson's
new place (it had xmas decorations?!!?), Courney Cox's place, Posh and
Becks and Jennifer Aniston's the Playboy mansion to name a few
are so many MASSIVE houses, we weren't too interested in that part of
the tour, but we are glad we went on it because it was great to see the
suburbs - they are just like in the movies, ever single house in
ginormous and immaculate - we think you probably get evicted if you
don't keep the grass below 3 centimetres!
The Lakers JUST won
the Final and acording to the news on the telly behind me people are
going nuts downtown, tearing trees out of the ground and setting them
on fire, rocking everyone's cars.. they are celebrating aparently..
nothing like a bit of mindless destruction.
After the tour of
the famous suburbs we went to Santa Monica and Venice Beach - great for
people watching - there are so many interesting characters everywhere
We are off the the airport again in the morning, off to Mexico!!
